THIS IS THE COPY OF THE REVIEW :

When I read the label “Atmospheric Death Metal from
Malaysia," it took me about two nanoseconds
to cross the emotional currents between excitement
and skepticism. After several positive surprises
from obscure bands hailing from countries
that aren´t exactly considered breeding
grounds for Metal music, I still have that
“How bad is it gonna be?” feel, when I´m about to
review a release from a band from say India,
Tunisia, Venezuela, or in this case, Malaysia.

HIDDEN SILENCE released this three-track demo back in 2004,
a demo containing songs that would end up on their
debut album “Black Hearted Spiritual” (which we have
reviewed here on the site btw). The songs are instrumental
with no vocals, which were added to the final versions on
the debut, so this is simply a raw rehearsal, not to be
taken all that serious. For reasons unknown to me, there are
two additional tracks on my copy, not sure when recorded,
but they´ve got vocals (growls/screams) and stay
pretty close to the band´s idea of Death Metal with keyboards.

Now then, of the song listed, “Blood World” is the
longest track (eight minutes) and is also the
closest thing to being Atmospheric Death Metal,
lots of tremolo melodies, varied tempo changes
and colourful keyboards, pretty ok actually, for
a low budget recording. The remaining two tracks
share a more traditional, mid tempo, eighties styled
Metal sound; “Desperate Dog” starts out with MAIDEN
inspired guitars, sounding almost identical to
the bridge in “Fear Of The Dark”, very melodic
track, whereas “Necromenicied” (come again?)
sounds like a lost THRESHOLD
 (English Progressive Metal band) ballad.

That´s pretty much it, not the best of demos, still,
I´ve heard worse.
